According to Naija News, the warning came after notorious militants assaulted Abuja’s Kuje Prison on Tuesday night and liberated around 600 inmates.
The UK Embassy in Nigeria issued a travel advise on Wednesday warning British people not to travel to 19 Nigerian states.
Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River are among the states named.
It further urged UK citizens to travel solely for essential purposes to Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi, Kebbi State, Abia, and non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, and Taraba.
Meanwhile, the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) claimed responsibility for the attack on Kuje Prison in the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday night.
