Mr. Sam Ujogu, the state coordinator of the scheme, announced this on Thursday in Enugu during the passing-out ceremony of members sent to the state.
He said, “Bayode Akinola Feranmi died on July 4, 2022, while swimming in a hotel pool in Enugu, while Ilo Blessing Ngozi passed away on July 5, 2022, after a protracted struggle with breast cancer.”
Ujogu also stated that 19 of the youth corps members had resigned from service and would be re-mobilized whenever they returned.
He added that the agency also extended the service year of 96 corps members in Enugu State’s 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1.
He stated that the fines were in accordance with the NYSC scheme’s bylaws.
Ujogu, on the other hand, stated that many of the departing youth corps members performed admirably during their service year.
He said “as you move ahead to assume greater responsibilities, do not forget the positive experiences you acquired during your service and stay in the state.
“In whatever position you find yourselves in the future, always endeavor to exhibit discipline and selflessness inculcated in you by the NYSC scheme.”
Ujogu praised the state administration for its assistance and compassion toward the initiative.

He did, however, need more support from the state government in order for the scheme’s management in the state to satisfy their demands.
“We are in dire need of a utility vehicle that will enable us to carry out inspection of corps members who are serving all over the state.
“We wish to remind the governor about the promise to renovate and construct an access road to the orientation camp,” he said.
Enugu State Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi responded, saying the state administration was committed to enhancing the welfare of youth corps members stationed in the state.
Ugwuanyi, who was represented by Chief Uwakwe Azikiwe, his Special Adviser on Special Duties, said the state government appreciated the efforts of youth corps members to national development.
In preparation for the 2023 general elections, the governor urged NYSC members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in order to participate in the political process.
