Funke was elected after defeating the other five nominees, who included former governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo, another governorship candidate, David Kolawole Vaughan known as DAKOVA, and Engr. Teslim Balogun.
Speaking about her selection as the opposition party’s deputy gubernatorial candidate, the sensational multi-talented Nollywood actress stated on her Instagram page on Tuesday that her strong desire to help contribute to the growth of youths, women, and children pushed her in that direction.
She also maintained that her noble parents’ upbringing instilled in her a strong value for life and dignity in labor, leading her to care for the needy and vulnerable in society.

She saw the opposition party as an opportunity to liberate and improve the lives of Lagos residents, particularly youths, women, and girls.
She stated;; “Dear Lagosians, it’s important to share with you, my decision to venture into what I consider a much bigger facet of service to humanity.
“I am convinced it is best to hear directly from me with my known career in the entertainment industry spanning over 25 years, and the God-given grace to achieve quite remarkable success, I have had the privilege of access to work and engage with people from all walks and strata of life.
“Within this period, I have watched with great concern the plight of the less fortunate, especially in the youth category and this drifted me towards my less popular but equally strong passion which is to help and assist and contribute to the growth of youths, women and children.”
