It is unclear whether the UAE Government has issued an official statement to this effect, but various travel agencies and citizens in Dubai have apparently confirmed the news.
The UAE Embassy in Abuja has not reacted to inquiries on the development.
The UAE’s decision was purportedly based on a video that went viral last week showing a group of men with machetes yelling in an apartment parking lot, chasing each other, and trashing public property.

In a statement issued on July 21, police claimed the suspects are of African ancestry and encouraged citizens not to engage in violence.
The statement read “The Dubai Police has arrested a group of people, who were engaged in a heated argument in their residence at late hours) The group of African people appeared in a viral video on social media platforms while fighting in a public place and damaging properties,” the statement read.
According to the police, a criminal case has been filed against the suspects, and they will be referred to the public prosecutor for further action.
