According to our source, the news of the alleged murder of LAUTECH Final Year student Rachael Opadele and hotelier Olugbenga Owolabi spurred the protest.
Although the police have not confirmed the killing, sources close to the student’s family said the two were shot dead after the kidnappers demanded a N5 million ransom.
The okada rider who delivered the ransom to the kidnapper’s hideout was apparently shot, but he was still alive, according to sources.
Adewale Osifeso, the state Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached.
When reached, LAUTECH Student Union President Anuoluwa Adeboye stated that he had not confirmed the story from the police.
