The discovery was made after the neighborhood decided, with the permission of the police authorities, to enter his compound to clear the bush that had grown over his fence into the neighboring house, resulting in a reptile invasion.
The locals began to wonder where the man might be as 2019 slipped into 2020. Even though he told two of the people he used to communicate with that he intended to travel to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and return for the Ileya ceremony in 2018, they assumed he was staying back where he originally came from when they didn’t see him for the celebration and the following days. According to the Nigerian Tribune, calls to his phone lines were not routed through others.
The community landlords allegedly decided in a meeting to find a way to gain access to the property in order to clear the bush after noticing that the weeds in his compound had become bushy. The community members who didn’t know his whereabouts then decided to go out and clear the bush once more as 2021 and 2022 drew to a close. According to reports, workers attempting to clear the bush noticed that Mr. Abiola’s room window was open and that his Volkswagen car was covered in bush, which aroused their curiosity.
One of the landlords, Mr. Mohammed Ademola, who used to interact with and work for Mr. Abiola, made the decision to look inside the room. But when he looked over at the home’s owner’s bed, he was startled. Because the neighborhood didn’t want to take any chances, the witnesses decided not to tamper with his remains. Security personnel advised them to take it slow and let the environmental authorities handle the situation. Mr. Ademola noted that it was difficult to identify the deceased’s relatives and that none of his family members were familiar with him.
