According to a news release issued by the institution’s Information and Public Relations Unit on Wednesday and signed by Adebola Ogunboyowa, the students were dismissed as a result of the results of the routine verification process for the 2020–2021 academic year.
Ogunboyowa claims that the affected students forged and fabricated test results in order to be admitted to the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs.
According to Ogunboyowa, the expelled students came from a variety of polytechnic departments.
Ogunboyowa revealed that Dr. Salisu Umar, the institution’s rector, has suggested 12 new programs to begin in the academic year 2022/2023.
Printing technology, welding and fabrication technology, supply chain management, taxation, library and information science, leisure and tourism management technology, and social development are among the new programs.
Others include crop production technology, economics and development studies, microfinance and enterprise development, computer engineering technology, agricultural extension and management, and economics and development studies.
She claims that the plan is consistent with the Rector’s desire to reposition the polytechnic and make it a model institution for the country and the world.
“In pursuit of the Rector’s vision, 12 new programmes at both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma are proposed for resource inspection by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
“Ten of the proposed programmes are for the ND level while two are at HND level,” Ogunboyowa said.
She added that the institution is set for re-accreditation of all programmes in the polytechnic.
In order to ensure that no program is denied accreditation, she pointed out that management has upgraded the already-existing infrastructure and purchased the essential tools.
According to Ogunboyowa, the Rector advised all deans of schools and heads of departments slated for various accreditation stages to give it their all in order to support the management’s efforts.
