The lecturer (names withheld), who has been charged with defiling a juvenile and sexual assault by penetration, was arraigned last Friday before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi on a two-count charge.
The lecturer was detained, according to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), as a result of a report from a Mandated Reporter over the claim that he was engaging in illicit sexual activity with his biological daughter.
The mother of the survivor also disclosed that her husband stopped having sexual relations with her in 2018 and that whenever she attempted to bring up the subject, he would always respond by physically beating her. Further information revealed that the final abuse took place on December 30, 2022.
He refused to enter a plea, and Magistrate Osunsanmi ordered that he be held at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility until the Directorate of Public Prosecutions could provide legal counsel. March 6, 2023 was set as the next date for the lawsuit.
