Nojeem Badmos, age 20, was found guilty of armed robbery and was given a death-by-hanging sentence by Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of a Lagos Special Offences Court, Ikeja.
On Monday, February 13, 2023, the judge sentenced the convicted party after finding him guilty of all charges brought by the prosecution.
The judge ruled that the elements of the two-count indictment of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery were proven by the prosecution beyond a reasonable doubt.
He had been accused by the government of conspiring to commit armed robbery in violation of sections 299 and 297 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws from 2015.
The witness testified in court that the defendant, together with two other robbers who are still at large, had robbed him of his backpack and other belongings as he was on his way to work at the Alagbado bus stop sometime in July 2019. He claimed to have seen a motorcycle rider approaching him while hauling two people.
“He suspected danger and began to run, but the two passengers on the bike came down and ran after him. He fell in the mud and the two chased after him, caught up with him and beat him up,” the prosecution witness stated.
Justice Abike-Fadipe found the defendant guilty of conspiring to commit robbery in her ruling and gave him a 21-year prison term.

The judge emphasized that the testimony of the victim, Adetokunbo Solomon, who was a witness for the prosecution, was credible and accurate while describing the defendant’s testimony as contradictory.
“In respect to armed robbery, having been found guilty, you will be hanged on the neck until you are dead and may the Lord have mercy on you,” the court held.
