A total of 8,794,726 votes were cast for Tinubu, according to the Chairman of the Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, who made the announcement of the outcome at precisely 4.10 a.m. on March 1 from the Federal Capital Territory and all 36 states.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party received 6, 101,533 votes to finish third, while his closest challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party received 6,984,520 votes, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 1,496,687 votes.
According to the INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu, he was stated that by 3:00 PM on March 1st, Tinubu and his running mate would receive their Certificate of Returns.
