Risikat Ajoke Adegeye, the late spouse of Sunny Ade, a former member of the Lagos state house of assembly, is the politician’s mother. Sunny Ade was also a politician.
The Labour Party’s (LP) George Folarin Adegeye was named the winner of the Amuwo-Odofin federal constituency on Tuesday.
Lanre Sanusi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 12,946 votes, was defeated by Adegeye, who received 46,702 votes.
Oghene Ego, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and sitting lawmaker, finished third with 5,752 votes.
Sunny Ade, a legendary musician and Grammy-nominated Nigerian vocalist, is the father of Adegeye.
Risikat served as the Lagos Assembly’s representative for Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 from 2011 to 2015. She has previously run for the APC presidency in the Amuwo Odofin LGA.
She passed away on September 21, 2021, the day before Sunny Ade turned 75, and was buried a few days afterwards.
The son of legendary artist Sunny Ade has been revealed as one of the young Nigerians who won the election for the Amuwo-Odofin federal constituency seat in Lagos state.
The politician pledged to keep his pledges to his supporters in his acceptance letter.
Also, he promised that the Amuwo-Odofin federal constituency would once more have “representation that was people-focused.”
“I don’t make empty promises, but we all should be assured that I will not betray the people’s trust as overwhelmingly demonstrated through the ballot box on February 25,” he stated.
“The victory is for the good people of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency.”
