Rainstorm has affected up to 100 students at St. David Anglican Primary School in Ijomu, Akure, the state capital of Ondo.
They were impacted by the rainstorm that caused the school’s nine classrooms to be demolished.
Due to the debris on the road, the incident, which is said to have occurred Monday at around 6:00 p.m., caused gridlock within the axis.
The storm also destroyed the playing field equipment at the school and tore branches off nearby trees.
Princess Feyisola Otetubi, the headmistress of the institution, expressed shock and despair at the incident.
There was no alternative place for the pupils to be detained while they were learning because of the rainstorm’s destruction, so Otetubi pleaded with the ondo state administration to act fast to rescue the school.
Kole Ibitoye, the chairman of the PTA in Akure South local government, also urged the state government to start a full restoration of the school while thanking God that it did not happen during school hours.
The school’s buildings had their roofs blown off during the Monday evening rainstorm, to the main Oke-Ijebu road.
He also stated that there wasn’t much the parents could do to change the circumstances.
