In a statement issued on behalf of the Federal Government and signed by Dr Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary, Interior Minister Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made the pronouncement.
He sent all Muslims his congratulations on the successful conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Aregbesola urged all Muslims to emulate the kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice, and good neighbourliness demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to imbibe and practice these virtues.
“The self-restraint, self-denial, sacrifice and deep spiritual consciousness that accompanied the fasting period should not end but be maintained and improved upon, in order to be a better person and true worshipper”, the minister advises all Muslims.
Aregbesola gave the Nigerian people the reassurance that President Muhammadu Buhari is firmly committed to a smooth transfer of power after victorious elections.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of every resident and visitor to the nation’s property.
“Aregbesola wishes all Muslims a happy Eidil-Fitr celebration and prays that the peace, blessings and favour of Allah be with you all,” the statement said.
