The 54th convocation event, set for January 16, 2024, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in Lagos State, claims that gowns meant for graduates were stolen by anonymous miscreants who destroyed the school bus.
The graduates were notified of the suspension owing to the vandalism after paying N15,000 for the gown collection.
“We regret to inform you that the distribution of SPGS academic gowns is now suspended. Sadly, the remaining gowns were stolen and our bus was vandalised this afternoon,” the university’s email to one of the graduates stated.

Malachy Odo, a lawyer, added that after paying the charge intended for the gown collection, he received an identical notification from the school via text messages.
He tweeted on X.
“I paid 15k for a convocation gown yesterday and this is what UNILAG just sent me. This country is not a real place,”
