The Presidency has responded to comments made by Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, labeling President Bola Tinubu as an “accidental leader.”
According to Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is well-prepared for the nation’s highest office and is doing his best to turn the country around.
Onanuga argued that Tinubu has shown a reformer’s attitude, implementing various reforms in areas such as taxation, the oil sector, and education.
He also highlighted Tinubu’s efforts to improve the business environment, attract foreign direct investment, and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Kukah had described many of Nigeria’s leaders, including President Tinubu, as accidental leaders who assumed power without adequate preparation in a rapidly evolving world.
However, Onanuga insisted that Tinubu is not an accidental leader, but rather a reformer who is doing his best to ensure that the country is lifted higher than he met it.
The Presidency’s response comes after Kukah delivered a keynote address at the inauguration of Start-Rite School’s new building and the 4th Amaka Ndoma-Egba Memorial Lecture in Abuja, where he lamented that Nigerian leadership continues to lack the critical element of knowledge.
