A recent review of the Lagos State 2024 Third Quarter (Q3) budget performance report has revealed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration reportedly spent a whopping N9 billion on purchasing “backup vehicles” for 40 members of the state House of Assembly.
This expenditure is part of the state’s cumulative spending from January to September 2024, which totals N13,332,950,408.90, representing 32.8% of the State Assembly’s total budget.
The report also shows that the state government allocated N35,665,334,793.62 in the original budget and N40,665,334,793.62 in the revised budget for the purchase of backup vehicles for the lawmakers.
Meanwhile, other critical projects in the state, such as the rehabilitation of vocational centers in Badagry and Sabo, received no funding despite having a budgetary allocation of N191,346,648.85.
Similarly, Lagos State University (LASU) and the Lagos State College of Health Technology also received zero funding for their respective projects, despite having budgetary allocations.
This raises questions about the state government’s priorities and the allocation of its resources.
