The Nigerian government has allocated N8.6 billion in the 2025 budget for the overhaul of presidential air fleet engines.
The expense is categorized under the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
The overhaul of 5N-FGW engines is expected to cost N5.5 billion, while the overhaul of two Falcon 7X engines will cost N3.1 billion.
Additionally, N119.8 million has been budgeted for the renovation of 50 units of presidential air fleet residential quarters. A new jet hangar for the presidential air fleet will cost N714 million.
This development comes on the heels of controversy surrounding the President Tinubu-led administration’s purchase of a new jet, which was reportedly refurbished, at an estimated cost of N150 billion.
According to a Central Bank of Nigeria economic report, N7.9 trillion was spent on debt servicing between Q1 and Q3, 2024.
