The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is embroiled in a major scandal after $350,000 to $400,000 and expensive jewelry went missing from its Lagos Zonal Command.
This incident comes on the heels of the EFCC dismissing 27 officials for misconduct and fraudulent activities, raising concerns about accountability and oversight within the agency.
The EFCC has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of theft. According to the EFCC, investigators are making progress, and those found culpable will face internal disciplinary processes.
Chairman Ola Olukoyede has been working to address the issue, with the EFCC Staff Disciplinary Committee recommending the dismissal of the 27 officials.
However, the latest scandal has sparked concerns about the agency’s ability to police itself and prevent corruption.
