The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles have left a trail of destruction, with at least 11 people dead, thousands of homes and businesses destroyed, and over 150,000 people under evacuation orders.
However, amidst the wildfires chaos and destruction, a disturbing allegation has emerged: firefighters prioritized saving the homes of wealthy and famous individuals over those of ordinary residents.
Residents of the affected areas, including Altadena and Pacific Palisades, have come forward to express their outrage and frustration at the perceived favoritism.
Nicholas Norman, a 40-year-old teacher, described how firefighters were absent from his neighborhood, leaving residents to fend for themselves against the raging flames.
“We didn’t see a single firefighter while we were throwing buckets of water to defend our house against the flames,” Norman said. “They were too busy over in the Palisades saving the rich and famous’s properties, and they let us common folks burn.”
Nicole Perri, a 32-year-old stylist whose lavish home in Pacific Palisades was destroyed in the fire, echoed Norman’s sentiments.
Perri criticized the authorities for their slow response to the disaster and for failing to provide adequate support to affected residents.
“The city has completely let us down,” Perri said. “Things should have been in place to prevent this. We’ve lost everything, and I just feel zero support from our city, our horrible mayor, and our governor.”
