A Nigerian woman, Kate Chinagorom Eze, has ignited a heated debate on social media after stating that she would not leave her marriage if her husband cheats on her or marries another woman.
Eze made the declaration on Facebook, where she addressed critics who questioned her stance on marriage and relationships.
Eze’s initial post advised women to stay in their marriages despite challenges, citing her own experience. However, a critic responded, accusing Eze of being arrogant and insensitive to women who have suffered in their marriages.
In response, Eze defended her stance, arguing that as an Igbo woman married to an Igbo man, she is culturally prepared for the possibility of her husband taking another wife. She emphasized that having a second wife or child outside of their marriage is not considered taboo in Igbo tradition.
“Why do some women always think that my husband getting married to another woman, cheating on me, or having a child outside is a death sentence?” Eze asked. “He is an Igbo man, he is an African man. Having a second wife or a child outside is not a taboo in Igbo land.”
