A somber mood prevailed in Ngalda, Yobe State, as seven traders who lost their lives in a devastating armed robbery attack at the Ngalda Market were laid to rest.
The funeral, held on Tuesday, drew a large crowd of mourners from the community and beyond.
The attack, which occurred on Monday at around 9 p.m., saw a group of six armed robbers target three shops in the market, making off with a staggering N16.5 million.
The robbers’ brutal actions resulted in seven fatalities and eleven injuries.
In a daring display of bravery, villagers fought back against the robbers, killing three of them while three others escaped with injuries. The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the incident and arrested the gang leader, Alhaji-Dadji.
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Garba has extended his condolences to the bereaved families and assured the public of a thorough investigation.
The police are urging the public to provide credible information to aid their efforts in apprehending the remaining suspects.
