The Nigerian military has dealt a major blow to terrorist forces operating in the North East, neutralizing 70 combatants, including three high-ranking commanders, in an operation code-named HADIN KAI.
The operation, which commenced on January 16, 2025, targeted the notorious Timbuktu Triangle terrorist stronghold.
The neutralized commanders include Talha, the Special Forces Commander; Mallam Umar, the Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, the Brigade Commander.
The operation came at a cost, with 22 personnel killed and several others wounded. The Defence Headquarters has acknowledged the sacrifices made by the troops and emphasized their commitment to combating terrorism in the region.
The military has urged the media to refrain from publishing the names of the fallen troops until their families have been formally notified.
The operation is ongoing, and the public will be updated on further developments in due course.
