In a lighthearted moment at a symposium commemorating Kayode Fayemi’s 60th birthday, Vice President Kashim Shettima jokingly warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to expect more political jabs in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.
Shettima acknowledged Atiku’s presence at the event, recalling his role as an “adjunct provocateur” during the 2023 presidential election, where he took “hot shots” at Atiku.
Despite their past exchanges, Shettima revealed that he holds Atiku in high regard, affectionately addressing him as “Baba” in private conversations.
However, he made it clear that this respect wouldn’t prevent him from throwing more political punches come 2027.
The audience erupted in laughter at Shettima’s comment, with Atiku himself smiling.
As the 2027 elections approach, it’s clear that Shettima and Atiku will be key players.
