In Verulam CBD, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2025, a sex worker was stabbed in the neck by a fellow prostitute during a heated dispute over a cigarette.
According to reports, members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called to the Ndwedwe Taxi Rank on Ireland Street at approximately 22:29. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found a female lying on the ground, bleeding from a penetrating wound to her neck.
The victim, a sex worker operating in the Central Business District, informed Reaction Officers that she was approached by a fellow prostitute who requested a cigarette.
When the victim denied the request, a heated argument ensued.
The suspect then produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck before fleeing on foot.
Fortunately, the victim survived the attack and is receiving medical attention.
The authorities are currently investigating the incident, and efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect.
