A recent internal document from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has revealed a shocking initiative by the Trump administration.
The plan involves tracking down hundreds of thousands of migrant children in the US for deportation.
The document, titled “Unaccompanied Alien Children Joint Initiative Field Implementation,” claims that the initiative aims to prevent children from being human trafficked or exploited.
However, critics argue that the move is a thinly veiled attempt to deport vulnerable children.
According to government data, more than 600,000 migrant children have crossed the US-Mexico border without a legal guardian or parent since 2019.
These children will be targeted by the initiative, which involves serving them with notices to appear in immigration court or deporting them if deportation orders are pending.
The initiative sorts migrant children into three groups: “flight risk,” “public safety,” and “border security.” ICE agents are instructed to prioritize “flight risk” minors, including those who have received deportation orders for missing court hearings.
