A devastating domestic dispute in Bauchi State has led to the arrest of 25-year-old housewife, Salamatu Danjuma, for allegedly killing her husband.
The incident occurred in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, where the couple resided.
According to CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, the dispute centered around the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Despite initial agreements with her family to welcome the child, the husband later refused, escalating tensions between the couple.
In a moment of heated argument, Salamatu grabbed a knife from their bedroom and fatally stabbed her spouse.
Responding to a distress call, detectives from the Bununu Police Divisional Headquarters rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Cottage Hospital in Bununu. Unfortunately, the husband succumbed to his injuries.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and discreet inquiry into the matter.
