The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has strongly criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for hosting its caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa.
The opposition coalition described the action as a blatant abuse of power that undermines democratic principles and fairness.
Chief Peter Ameh, National Secretary of CUPP, argued that the Presidential Villa is a symbol of national unity and the seat of power, where important national decisions are made and the President receives visiting dignitaries.

He stated that using the Villa for partisan activities blurs the line between state resources and party interests.
Ameh emphasized that the Villa belongs to all Nigerians, regardless of party affiliation. He noted that hosting APC functions there excludes other registered political parties from accessing the same facilities.
This, he believes, is a slap in the face of Nigerians struggling to make ends meet, as the ruling party prioritizes consolidating its power over addressing the country’s pressing needs.
The CUPP has urged the APC to respect the neutrality of the Presidential Villa and ensure that it is made available to all registered political parties.
According to Ameh, anything less would be a betrayal of the trust placed in them by the Nigerian people.
