A 29-year-old student of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Donatus Ndubuisi, who was brutally killed by Fulani herdsmen in Amofia Umuhu Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, has been laid to rest.
Ndubuisi, an only child of a widowed mother, was shot and killed on February 28, 2025, while assisting his mother to harvest cassava on their farm. His father had also been killed by Fulani herdsmen in the community.
The funeral ceremony was marked by tears and anguish, with thousands of women from seven autonomous communities in Eha-Amufu protesting against the killing of Ndubuisi and other violence perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in the community.
The protest, which coincided with Ndubuisi’s burial, was a call for justice and an end to the violence. The women branded the chairman of the Isi-Uzu Local Government Area, Mr. Obiora Obeagu, of profiting from their blood.
