Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has denied receiving a recall petition notice from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This development comes despite INEC’s confirmation that a formal notification letter had been sent to the senator, informing her of the petition for her recall.
According to newsmen, INEC’s notice, dated March 25, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Rose Oriaran Anthony, stated that the petition was received from representatives of registered voters in Senator Natasha’s constituency, seeking her recall from the Senate.
However, when contacted by SaharaReporters, Senator Natasha claimed she had not received any notice from INEC, questioning whether publishing the notice on INEC’s social media handles suffices. She stated, “I haven’t been served. I will ask my lawyers.”
The recall petition has been marred by controversy, with allegations of fraud and political vendetta. INEC initially rejected the petition due to the lack of verifiable contact information but later accepted it after the petitioners provided the required details.
