Kennedy Peretei, the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has resigned from his position and withdrawn his membership from the party.
He cited the dominance of selfish interests and persistent leadership failure as reasons for his departure.
Peretei lashed out at the party’s leaders, saying, “I have decided to quit the PDP, as its supposed leaders have no real intention of winning any elections—now or in the future. The party is in the intensive care unit and dangerously close to the morgue.”
He accused the party’s leaders of prioritizing personal gain over the party’s interests and lamented the party’s continuous electoral setbacks.
Peretei advised those who depend solely on election funds and political patronage to find alternative livelihoods, emphasizing that politics should not be a refuge for “political bandits” or “yes men.”
Peretei served as the State Financial Secretary between 1999 and 2003 and held the position of State Publicity Secretary from 2020 until his resignation. His departure comes amid controversy, with some questioning the party’s leadership and direction.
The explosive resignation has sparked concerns about the party’s future and its ability to win elections in the state.
