Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has met with former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, as part of his efforts to build a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which took place at Aregbesola’s residence in Osun State, was attended by another former Vice President, Namadi Sambo.
Chants of “Tinubu Will Fall in 2027” During Meeting With Atiku
During the meeting, Aregbesola’s team was seen chanting “Tinubu will fall in 2027” in the Yoruba dialect. The chant has sparked a reaction on social media, with many interpreting it as a sign of growing opposition to President Tinubu’s administration.
Atiku’s meeting with Aregbesola is part of his efforts to build a coalition that could potentially challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Earlier reports suggested that Atiku had offered Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the vice-presidential slot in a proposed single-term coalition ticket.
Aregbesola’s Possible Defection
Aregbesola, who has been at loggerheads with the APC, is rumored to be considering joining the Atiku-led coalition. His possible defection could be a significant blow to the APC’s chances in the 2027 elections.
