Controversial social media personality, Bobrisky, is back in the headlines following his arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, thenewsnaija Reports.

 

The EFCC spokesperson, Del Oyewale, revealed that Bobrisky’s arrest is connected to the audio conversation released by social critic, Very Dark Man.

According to Oyewale, the audio recording allegedly features Bobrisky claiming to have paid the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges filed against him earlier this year.

 

However, Bobrisky has denied being the person heard in the audio tape, sparking a heated controversy.

The EFCC’s investigation into the bribery allegation led to Bobrisky’s invitation for questioning, but he reportedly refused to show up, prompting the agency to take drastic measures and arrest him.

This latest development is just another chapter in Bobrisky’s ongoing legal woes.

Background of the Controversy And Why Bobrisky Was Arrested By The EFCC

Bobrisky’s troubles began when he was sentenced to prison for naira abuse. He was initially detained but was allegedly moved to a private location after reportedly facilitating a bribe.

The situation escalated when Very Dark Man released the audio recording implicating Bobrisky.

The recording allegedly featured Bobrisky claiming that musician Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his detention, seeking money to secure a presidential pardon.

Bobrisky’s arrest has sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the commission’s handling of the case.

It’s worth noting that Bobrisky was previously arrested on October 22 at the Sème border while allegedly trying to flee the country.

Since his troubles began back in April 2024 when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for charges related to naira abuse, bobrisky hasn’t had a single day void of controversy.

The continued incident has also raised concerns about the influence of figures like Bobrisky in Nigerian society.
