SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, verified this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.

According to Hundeyin, the leadership was concerned about the rise in the state’s defilement cases.

He alleges that 56 cases of domestic violence and 14 cases of rape occurred within the same period.

According to the police spokesperson, 99 suspects were brought to court at that time.

He added that 83 cases were now being investigated, demonstrating the command’s dedication to bringing charges against anyone in Lagos State who engages in domestic or gender-based violence.

Hundeyin claimed that CP Idowu Owohunwa’s redesign of the command’s Gender Unit was a sign of his determination to take serious action against those responsible for gender-based violence.
