“No Time For Distraction,” Tinubu’s Loyalist MC Oluomo Breaks Silence After Appeal Court Ruling Sacking Him As NURTW President

Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has spoken out after the Appeal Court stripped him of his position as National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The controversy surrounding his presidency began when he emerged as the winner in an election held in Osogbo, Osun State, which was widely criticized.

MC Oluomo’s brief tenure as NURTW President has been marked by controversy, with his son boasting about their newfound control over Nigeria, not just Lagos.

In March 2023, MC Oluomo sparked outrage when he threatened Igbo people in Lagos, warning them to stay home during the governorship election unless they planned to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

The Appeal Court’s decision upheld an earlier ruling by the National Industrial Court, declaring Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa as the legitimate leader of the NURTW. The court dismissed an appeal filed by MC Oluomo’s allies, stating it lacked merit, and imposed a fine of N100,000 on the appellants.

In response to the ruling, MC Oluomo shared a post on Instagram, saying “IT’S TIME FOR NO DISTRACTIONS! Refocused. Recharged. Ready to Rock!” However, the NURTW Southwest Zonal Chairman, Olalekan Folorunsho, has said MC Oluomo is not a member of the union, as he tore his NURTW identity card in 2022.

MC Oluomo’s rise to power has been linked to his strong ties with President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He has publicly described himself as being owned by Tinubu, stating that whatever Tinubu wants is what he will support.
