Underage Girl Rescued by LASTMA After Leaving Her Guardian’s Residence Due to Alleged Abuse
According to a statement from Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of LASTMA’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, the small child was discovered alone under the Jibowu bridge on Monday, October 16, 2023, at around 7:20 am.
The statement reads ;
“During interrogation, the young girl who gave her name as Kemisola Christy revealed that she ran away from home due to maltreatment from her guardian who lives at 72, Glover Street, Ebute Metta,”
“Christy revealed further that she was afraid and ran away from home after her guardian threatened to cut off her hands when she was caught stealing N100 out of money she kept inside purse.
“She was however handed over to Policemen attached to Alakara Police Station for further investigation.”
