25-year-old IMSU Graduate Murdered in Imo: Friends Express Sorrow for Her Death (Photos)
On Saturday, May 27, 2023, the Imo State University graduate was buried in her hometown.
Her terrible death was mourned by friends on social media.
The Imo State University graduate was buried at her birthplace of Umuori Umuafai in the state’s Dikenafai Ideato South Local Government Area on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
On February 7, 2023, she was reportedly found brutally slain in a man’s home in the Ikeduru Local Government Area.
It’s unclear how she got to the suspect’s home or why he is accused of killing her.
Her anguished father, Cosmas Anele, a retiree, claims that the police demanded N60,000 from him before they would take him to the crime scene and the mortuary where her body was buried.
Mr. Anele, a resident of Umudagu, Mbieri, claimed in a video that went viral on social media following the murder that Ogochukwu, his second daughter, who worked for a payment firm, failed to come home on February 7th.

He claimed that Ogochukwu had called her mother earlier in the day, around 2 pm, to let her know she would be returning.
“She usually returned home at 6 pm”, he stated.
But she failed on that crucial day. She was unable to return home. That was when her family started to be worried.
Mr. Anele claims that the family prayed for her return in the hopes that she would. They prayed and maintained watch. Additionally, they contacted her phone number, which rang nonstop until it stopped.
Mr. Anele left his house the following morning to conduct a search. He went to the closest Police station and filed a report about a missing female. Additionally, he conducted a search to the DSS office in the hopes that he would find his daughter there among those who were allegedly being held there. She was nowhere to be found there.
The police station at Iho, in the state’s Ikeduru local government region, made the call. His terror grew at that moment. He questioned how she got to remote Iho. He then hurried down.

When the officer in charge questioned him, “Are you the father of the deceased girl?” he was told to return to the State Criminal Investigations Department where he had been informed of his daughter’s death.
He claimed he wanted to view her body to make sure it was really her. However, the police allegedly wanted to charge him N60,000.
He claimed that he tried to make a deal, but they allegedly turned him down.
“They refused and insisted on N60,000,” he stated.
When Mr. Anele was escorted outside to a residence, he claimed to have reluctantly performed a transfer and then see blood all over the place.
His daughter’s blood was what was all over the floor. He sobbed and lost it. He later learned that the man with them on the trip was the one staying in the room and allegedly the murderer.
He was then taken to the mortuary to view her remains.
