Lagos Government Reports Speed Darlington to NAPTIP Over Alleged Rape of Minor
The Lagos State Government has taken swift action following a disturbing viral video involving controversial singer Speed Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye.
In the video, which surfaced on social media, the musician appeared to confess during an Instagram Live session to having engaged in sexual activity with an underage girl — a revelation that has sparked widespread public outrage.
Reacting to the allegations, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) issued an official statement via its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The agency condemned the alleged incident and clarified that although the entertainer did not disclose the location of the incident, their jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State.
“The DSVA is aware of the disturbing video currently circulating online, in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor,” the statement read.
“While the individual in question did not specify the location of the incident during the Instagram Live session, we must clarify that the DSVA’s jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State.”
Given the gravity of the allegations and potential violations of federal laws, the Lagos State Government has officially referred the case to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The DSVA reiterated Lagos State’s zero-tolerance policy toward sexual and gender-based violence and encouraged members of the public to report similar cases through appropriate legal channels.
“We appreciate the vigilance of citizens who brought this to our attention and urge the public to continue reporting such cases through the appropriate legal channels,” the agency added.
