Amazon plans to launch operations in Nigeria by 2023

According to Business Insider, the US e-commerce company will open a market place in two African countries.

 

Already present in 20 countries, the e-commerce behemoth will begin operations in Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, and South Africa in April 2023.

The e-commerce startup will launch a marketplace in each of the five nations, with access to Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon service.

According to the article, Amazon is also working to expand its US-based shop.

While Amazon’s prime membership program will be available in Belgium at the start of activities, it will not be available in other countries until long after.

 

Amazon’s foray into Nigeria’s e-commerce arena will increase competition in a sector dominated by Jumia, Konga, and Jiji, among others.
