In Kano, a 16-year-old girl commits suicide as a result of an alleged forced marriage.
Sadiya Usman, a sixteen-year-old Nigerian girl, committed suicide.
Over alleged forced marriage, the young girl hanged herself in Garin Dauru village in Warawa Local Government Area, Kano State.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesman for the Kano State Police Command, verified the event to DAILY POST.
According to him “police on 01/08/2022 at about 3:00 received a phone call from the village Head of Garin Dauru town in Warawa local Government that a girl hanged herself in her room”.
He stated that after receiving the report, a team of police officers was dispatched to the spot, where they discovered that the girl had hung herself with her wrapper and a wooden pestle.

He stated that the girl was brought to Wudil General Hospital and was pronounced dead by a doctor.
Kiyawa stated that an investigation is underway to determine why she committed suicide.
Malam Usman, the deceased’s father, refuted the report that the girl committed herself due to forced marriage.
“The report that the girl hanged herself because of forced marriage is not true, all I know is that my daughter is possessed by demons that used to disturb her from time to time,” he said.
