A Nigerian Software Engineer Acquires a Football Club in Denmark (Photo)
In an effort to revitalize the club, Mr Akinlade bought a 55% stake in it, making him the dominant owner of Aarhus Fremad.
According to Peoples Gazette, this comes after he finished buying the Danish second-division team Aarhus Fremad.
“We have looked at the date correctly, and yes – it is good enough Aarhus Fremad has closed an agreement today, which means a new owner in the club. We are very much looking forward to the collaboration and eagerly await what the future brings us,” the club’s statement read.
Aarhus Fremad’s principal owner, Mr Akinlade, who is headquartered in the United States of America, purchased a 55% stake in the club with the intention of modernizing it, according to information gathered by Peoples Gazette.
The 38-year-year- old recent investment in football comes from Aarhus Fremad F.C., which is presently leading the Danish second division by six points and is on track to be promoted to the top level at the end of the season.
The 38-year-old software engineer also founded Sporting Lagos F.C. in 2022.
Shola Akinlade, a Nigerian software engineer and co-founder of the online payment system Paystack, is now a football club owner.
Sporting Lagos, a rapidly expanding private football team in Nigeria, competes in the Nigeria National League, the country’s second-division competition (NNL).
