FG is Being Solicited by Nigerian man who was “tricked” into Fighting for Russia Seeks Repatriation.
Abubakar Adamu, a Nigerian national, has made a desperate plea to the Federal Government for assistance in order to make his return from Russia possible.
Adamu claimed that after traveling to Russia for what he thought was a civilian security position, he was tricked into enlisting in the Russian military.
Adamu’s lawyers have officially informed Nigerian authorities about his predicament, detailing how he was allegedly duped and forced into military service, according to a story by Zagazola Makama.
The attorneys said that after being promised a job as a sentry, Adamu traveled to Moscow on a tourist visa granted by the Russian Embassy in Abuja on October 16, 2025.
But according to reports, his travel permits were confiscated when he arrived, and he was forced to sign recruitment documents that were completely written in Russian without the use of an interpreter.

His legal team claims that he later discovered that he had been recruited into the Russian army.
Adamu allegedly refused to be deployed to battle zones in Ukraine, leaving him stuck in a Russian military base.
The move coincides with mounting allegations that foreigners were enticed to Russia with promises of civilian employment only to be conscripted into the armed forces.
The bodies of two Nigerians were found in the Luhansk region on Thursday, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, who claimed to have been fighting on the Russian side of the conflict.
The deceased, who supposedly passed away in November 2025, months after enlisting in the Russian army, were identified as Mbah Stephen Udoka, 38, and Hamzat Kazeem Kolawole, 42.
A recent investigation also revealed allegations that Africans from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda were enlisted in Russia under false pretenses of working as security guards or drivers, only to be compelled to serve in the military with little training before being deployed to the front lines.
Concerned for Adamu’s safety and well-being, his attorneys have called on Nigerian authorities to act quickly to ensure his safe return.
