Fidelity Bank Plc has announced an increase in charges for SMS transaction alerts from ₦4 to ₦6 per message, effective May 1, 2025.
The bank attributes the change to an industry-wide increase in SMS costs by telecommunications service providers.
According to the bank, the adjustment is necessary to ensure the delivery of secure, timely, and reliable transaction notifications.
The notice also stated that SMS alerts sent to international phone numbers may attract higher charges.
Fidelity Bank assured customers that it will continue to provide value-added services and innovative solutions to enhance their banking experience. The bank’s statement read, “Please be informed that due to an industry-wide increase in SMS costs by telecommunications providers, the charges for SMS transaction alerts will be revised from ₦4 to ₦6 per SMS effective May 1, 2025.”
