Mrs Audu, who is currently being held in Yola prison for alleged attempted murder, was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court I for “attempt to commit culpable homicide.”

According to the prosecutor, ASP Francis Audu, the defendant plotted the murder of her husband, James Tizhe, and two others, Maryamu Bugi and Bugi Walla.

The prosecutor informed the court that the defendant gave the assassin a cash deposit of N7,000 out of the N100,000 she had promised to pay after killing those she had penciled down. On June 3, 2022, the hired killer collected the cash deposit and reported himself to the police.

LEADERSHIP, on the other hand, gathered that Hauwa paid the money to Kwaji to consult a native doctor on her behalf in order to paralyze her husband, not to kill him. Her actions were motivated by her husband’s failure to treat her as his wife. For the past nine years, the husband was accused of not sharing the same bed with her or providing adequate care for her as a wife.

The defendant was said to have accused Maryamu Bugi and Bugi Walla of murdering her daughter-in-law through witchcraft, prompting her to seek vengeance.

The defendant denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in court. After she entered her plea, the prosecution requested an adjournment so that he could duplicate the case file and send it to the DPP for vetting given the nature of the alleged offense.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Mohammed Buba ordered the defendant’s remand and adjourned the case until July 14, 2022.
