Meet AGVIBEZ, a 25-year-old Afro-fusion artist who is pushing boundaries.

 

With a strong foundation in the conscious music genre, he started his career in 2018, to be precise. He currently has a few tracks out, and an EP with excellent features is in the works. Bob Marley and other reggae music superstars had a big artistic influence on him, while Westlife provided deeper inflections with their distinctive R&B sound.

 

 

 

Makiese Dante sits down with AG VIBEZ and talks about his musical life.

 

In a few words, introduce yourself and what you do.

I’m AG Vibez alias Firebanton “ I’m an Artist [musician, songwriter, mixing and mastering engineer] AG stands for Agunwa which is my real native name, been in the music industry for a while now and still pushing boundaries.

 

 

What made you want to become a musician?

Never really chose to be a musician, just found happiness doing music and making sounds come together and I have always been excited to share that joy with everyone around me.

 

Which instruments did you play in high school?

I played the drums, I also played native drums called Igba

 

What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next five to 10 years?

Being happier than I have ever been, the moment I can truly share my source of joy, which is my music, my craft with the world then and only then will I truly be accomplished and 10yrs is a good enough time to accomplish that.

 

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I love Art, I draw I paint and I’m also a graphic designer

 

What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?

Well music was not invented by a man so it’s difficult to pinpoint the very things that make me passionate about music cause it’s a spiritual thing

 

What inspired you to start playing and making music?

Curiosity and passion

 

Who’s your ideal musician to collaborate with and why?

 

Burna, Damian Marley
Caveman, Omah Lay, Victony, and Why because it would blast

 

How would you handle travelling and being away from your home for an extended period of time while you were on tour?

 

I’m used to being far from home and on the road, I’m single no kids so I have no reason to want to remain around home for long periods

 

Have you ever participated in any music competitions? Did you win any prizes?

 

Well, I don’t believe in competitions cause we are all blessed in our different sounds and I have gone to competitions in the past and won a few but I’m not gonna go into that.
