The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has allocated N2 billion for land and bush clearing activities in its 2025 national budget.
A breakdown of the budget reveals that significant portions of the funds will be used to clear land for NALDA farms across various states in Nigeria.
The expenditure, detailed under the budget code “ERGP1224383,” includes major land-clearing projects for the establishment of NALDA farms in different regions. Osun State will receive N500 million for the clearing of land to develop NALDA cluster farms. Another N300 million has been earmarked for land clearing and development of horticulture clusters in selected states.
Additionally, N200 million is allocated for the clearing of 120 hectares of agricultural land in Ado/Akinwunmi village, along with the installation of a solar-powered borehole at Ado Village.
While the budget focuses on agricultural land development, it also includes some projects that fall outside the agency’s typical mandate. These include N400 million for the construction of an access road in Akpa/Agudu federal constituency, N40 million for motorcycles in Isa Sabo Birni federal constituency in Sokoto State, and N100 million for school furniture in Jigawa South senatorial district.
Other non-agricultural initiatives in the budget include N250 million for solar street lights in select communities in Kogi State and the construction of primary healthcare centers in Mallam Inna and Gabukka, Gombe State, with each project allocated N250 million.
