Nigerians Are Excited As They Withdraw Money From Banks Over the Weekend.

Huge throngs of clients were reportedly witnessed at banks’ Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) terminals, according to a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who monitored certain banks in the Territory.
Also, according to NAN, consumers could be seen forming lines to access the banking areas one after another.
First City Monument Bank (FCMB), United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank, First Bank, Fidelity Bank, Ecobank, and Access Bank are among the financial institutions that have begun operating along the Nyanya-Mararaba road.
Although Mrs. Ngozi Ugoh, an Access Bank client, admitted she was unaware of the CBN decision, she went into the bank to obtain some cash when she noticed a large throng there.
”I didn’t know about the directive of opening at weekends but I was just passing by and saw people so I entered to see if I can get some cash,” she stated.
Another client, Mr. Andy Jerry, who applauded the development and was seen at Zenith Bank, claimed that banks were adhering to the CBN direction to work over the weekend in order to call off the scheduled demonstration by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
”I think the CBN compelled banks to work weekends so that the protest by NLC will not hold. I like this because it will give more time for people to access cash,” he stated.
The CBN was praised by Miss Stephanie Ikpe for the instruction.
She claimed that the change will ease the widespread financial hardship people are currently facing.
Ikpe urged the CBN to keep an eye on banks to make sure they were still open on weekends.
Through the Acting Director of the Corporate Communication Department, the CBN announced on Friday that commercial banks had received a sizeable sum of money in various denominations.
Also, the apex bank ordered all commercial banks to be open on Saturdays and Sundays. (NAN)
