Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, has made a clear call to action, stating that without a unified front of collective accountability, no “miracle” will save the country.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerians to share responsibility for the nation’s progress, cautioning that until people band together to address the nation’s problems, significant growth will stay unattainable.
The declaration was made by Obasanjo on Thursday during the Sixth Annual Colloquium, which was intended to commemorate the 65th birthday of Trinity Church founder Itua Ighodalo. Discussions about Nigeria’s future were part of the event, which had the topic “The Future of Nigeria.”

Prof. Adedeji Daramola, the former president, emphasized on behalf of the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute that nation-building is a shared responsibility that affects all facets of society.
Every Nigerian, from market women to professionals and political leaders, must contribute to determining the country’s course, he said, cautioning against expecting unexpected miracles without taking intentional action.
“Nobody will fix Nigeria for us until we come together to work and fix it,” stated Obasanjo, adding that although leadership is essential, real development requires accountability and group engagement.
He also emphasized the significance of incorporating youth in national development and government, characterizing them as the foundation of Nigeria’s future.
According to him, Nigeria’s sizable youth population offers a significant advantage that needs to be utilized through creativity and technology.
