A University of Benin (UNIBEN) final-year student has been murdered by alleged cult members.

The young man’s name is known as Desmond.

At around 9 o’clock on Monday, April 3, 2023, the victim, also known as “Mayor,” was shot dead in his room at the Hall 3 Hostel.

The deceased was reportedly a Kegite chief and a student in the Department of public administration.

The victim was shot in the face at point-blank range, according to a student who asked to remain anonymous.

His remains are said to have been placed in the mortuary of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

“The killing of Desmond has caused panic in the school. Students are even afraid to stay in the hostel. He was shot in the face and had no chance to survive the attack.” the student stated.
