JAMB Approves Applications for NCE and Agriculture Programs Without UTME
Some applicants will be able to enrol in specific education and agriculture-related programs without taking the UTME thanks to a new admissions pathway that JAMB has implemented.
Applications for admission to non-technological National Diploma programs in agriculture-related courses and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programs at Colleges of Education are now being accepted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Fabian Benjamin, a spokesperson for JAMB, such applicants will not be required to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Benjamin explained that eligible candidates with the required O’Level credits can register at any Institutional Professional Registration Center located within educational institutions or at any JAMB Professional Registration Center nationwide.
He claims that the registration came after the federal government decided to waive the UTME requirements for applicants wishing to enroll in NCE and non-technological agriculture programs.
He mentioned that JAMB has set up an admissions procedure to guarantee that only eligible applicants are accepted while upholding the caliber and requirements of the impacted programs.
As a result, he invited qualified applicants to register at the specified locations across the country to take advantage of the chance.
Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, stated during the 2026 admission policy conference in Abuja that applicants might apply to colleges of education without taking the test if they have at least four credit passes in pertinent subjects.
However, before acceptance letters are sent out via the Central Admissions Processing System, individuals would still need to register with JAMB for screening, verification, and certification of their credentials.
Declaring that the measure was intended to increase enrollment in the impacted programs, the minister also extended the exception to applicants seeking admission into National Diploma programs in non-technology agricultural and agriculture-related courses.
