Usain Bolt congratulates Nigerian Amusan on her historic accomplishment at the World Championships.

Amusan finished in 12.06 seconds at Hayward Field after breaking the world record in the semifinals with a time of 12.12 seconds.

Amusan won the gold medal in the 100m women’s hurdles competition, defeating competitors including Olympic Champion Casmine Camacho-Quinn.

With her victory, the athlete from Ogun State has become the first African or Nigerian to win a gold medal in the competition.

Bolt, the former world’s fastest man, congratulated Amusan on social media.

“Superb #Tobi,” the Jamaican wrote on his Twitter account.

Amusan also received a $100,000 check for winning gold in the women’s 100-meter hurdles final, where she also broke her own semi-final record.

She is indeed making Nigerians proud.
